April 30 1917. Rain all day long, with snow towards evening. I crocheted tatting Millie gave me to one pillowcase, and made me an underwaist of a flaxon waist of mine. Ferdinand's brother Herbert came to work for us. 1918. Finished Sis' georgette waist. Helped Hans shell seed corn. In evening we transplanted early wax beans, mammoth pumpkin, muskmelon, and watermelons to garden. Frost in morning. 1919. Very cloudy. Wrote to Helen. Hilda awake from 3-5 A.M. I tried to nap three times during day. Keith and Hans came for lunch while Amanda was gone, also August came. Hilda obligingly slept while I got us something to eat. Sat in dentist chair an hour. To town in P.M. Lela Meleen here for supper. I crocheted three medallions. Letter from Sis + Mildred Savage. 1920. April showers in A.M. turned to sunny P.M. I mended, made a dresser-scarf for men's room, hemmed a dishtowel, straightened linen-press, put meat in smokehouse. We had first rhubarb pie. 1921. Baked bread, did a little mending. Signe keeps one of us busy most of the time. Feeding chicks five times a day also takes considerable time.
