AUGUST 11 1917. We harvested what onions had not been stolen; I hoed corn, beans and cucumbers while Hans hilled potatoes. We called at Ole's then walked to town on State Road. Picked a pint of pin cherries. We picked peas in school garden. I finished crocheted edge on bib (tri-color) in shade of spruce while Hans worked with pumpkins. 1918. Rained in town in forenoon. I wrote birthday letter to Georgia Springer at Hawkinson, N.D. Late in P.M. Hans and I went to Jeff Denison's. We stayed for supper. It wasn't muddy north of town. 1919. Had headache, and did not get up till 10:30. Amanda went out to Tompkins' to work. I made a bright red calico costume for Keith, trimmed with yellow, for him to wear when he drives his aeroplane - Ford. 1920. At 9 Constance and I loaded up Ford with old chairs, and various utensils and food and were at folks' till 9:00 P.M. Very hot. 20 men for dinner, not so many for supper.
