SEPTEMBER 3 1917. Our roomers, Margaret Sinclair of Argyle and Carita M. Robertson of Moorhead arrived at 11:30 A.M. They will also board here, and Mrs. Day and Miss Thayer for part of their meals. I went to school garden, bought Utah metal tablespoons, etc. Called on Mrs. Oscar Barness. She gave me Wandering Jew and hardy carnations. 1918. Shelled beans and helped get a lot of vegetables ready and helped put up our garden display at fair. Mrs Dawes and Mr. Boardman of Brookings were here for supper. I took our girls a ford ride until dark. Neighbor Rees' returned yesterday. 1919. Baked lemon pie and gingerbread. Rained most of day - postponing fair a day. Oliver drove ford for me in the mud, and I took a few things to the fair. We went to hospital to see Keith. Finally finished letters to Helen and mamma. Sent card to Sis. Miss Wongstead here for supper. Harry Boyts here over night. 1920. George and Mary left for McGregor and other points of scenic interest after breakfast. Canned a qt. of pickles. Cleaned my room and upstairs, took a nap, and mended an hour or so. Hilda walked all way up back stairs alone. 1921. Minnie had "summer flu", and didn't come as I had expected. I just continued cooking (for 5 men) and caring for the babies, and let cleaning up go for this week, except that Amanda helped me some over noon, especially a baby washing
