SEPTEMBER 11 1917. Had our first cabbage. From wild plums I bought (at 4¢ a #), I put up 3 pints preserves, 2 qts. juice, 3 cups jelly, and I also made about 3 qts. chopped mixed pickle. Baked cake. Sewed on pajamas again at Red Cross. Miss Aleda Hershberger called on me and schoolma'ams in evening. 1918. Baked oatmeal bread. Began housecleaning - (first regular one since we were married) - tho unwittingly. I had to clean up floors to have them refinished. A man oiled my kitchen floor. Letter from mamma - Charlies have baby girl, Marjorie Loretta. 1919. Watched canning or sewing demonstrations most of forenoon, and races a little while in P.M. Hans and I saw Extension Dept. movies, dairy bldg. etc. Came home after supper as it's so far to the dormitory - then gave Hilda bath, etc. 1920. Baked cream cake, washed a few pieces with Lux, mopped linoleums, did some sweeping, etc. in spite of my cold. Hot in P.M., which helped drive it out. Finished Hilda's petticoat. Town in eve, at Whitney's & stopped at folk's on way home. Tired out. 19
