JANUARY 3 36. Cloudy. Evergreens covered with snow. I feel worse-temperature in P.M. Hilda came home from 3 days at Buckholm + P.M. with Billie Stoheli in Dubuque. I drove Hans' car to S.S. 10: About 30 there. No one in my class. Hans came with a halfhog, Velma + Rosamond Fairman. Got them dinner at 3, them we missed 3:30 train! They went to Cedar Falls on 9 P.M. bus. I finished rereading "Covered Wagon" 9 Hans left for Michigan after 9 o'clock mail came with his check. School began again. 17°. Began braiding a new strand to replace worn out one in Frank's rug. Mended. Wrote Olga. 9 To Middleton with Hans to sign papers for a corn loan. Roasted goose for dinner, then Hans left to tell Ande to move then work in Minn. Finished Frank's quilt. Canned 4 qt. ham. Signe + Hilda back in school. 9
