JANUARY 10 1936. Word from McGregor that [illegible] can not go on our farm, so we had Bill Byer & wife here in eve to talk them into it. Church nite in eve -- we all went for supper. I took esc. eggplant. Came home at 8. Hilda went on 7 bus to Dubuque to visit Billie. 1937. Walked on slick top crust to S.S. 49 there. 4 in my class. Finished reading "Green Light." Hans home all day for once. Too icy to accept invitation to Pownall's. 1938. Went to Madison when school kids went, so as to have car in P.M. to attend Home Account Comm. of H. Ec. at Mrs. Cole's, 611 So. Prospect Ave. Grace K. there. Wrote Hans Sent letter to Aunt Emma -- her 79th birthday 1939 Began work on hollyhock applique bedspread. Finished crocheting varicolored wool scarf for Hilda & crocheted similar belt for Kathryn. Letter from Beatrice. Finished reading "A Peculiar Treasure" by Edna Ferber. 19
