JANUARY 17 Baked Hans' birthday cake and raisin bread. Snowed hard all P.M. Ironed with my new iron; worked on school dress for Kathryn from my old green wool dress. Kathryn, Frank, Hans & I left at [illegible]:30 to eat Hans' birthday dinner at Paul Pownall's in Galena. Paving nearly free of ice in Ill. Home about 7. No good after I did half the ironing, so left rest for girls. Read "Goodby, Mr. Chips." Mrs Rollis called in P.M. (More than an hr.) Cut out skirt from Hans' trouser goods. Took girls to Madison. Snowed all day. Reviewed last 2 chaps. of "Moving Millions" at Univ. Missionary Society. Baked jelly roll. Made fudge.
