JANUARY 18 1936. Huge snowdrifts & more snow overnight. K. baked cookies, I mopped, finished her dress, made 2 comfort protectors. Kathryn & Hilda began knitting sweaters. 1937. Hans wrote first of series of broadcasts for Decorah & Dubuque. I finished & sent Poultry copy to Wallace's & wrote 200 words in Farmer's Wife new Garden Dept. Garden Club at L. Sefzik's. 1938. Finished "Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come." Embroidered on second of a pair of pillowcases started last winter. Another gray day. Signe placed highest of 14 in East Hi in Gorgas Essay Contest. I counted words as she revised. 1939. Cloudy. Made more lard. Wrote Hans. About 3" snow. Letters from Helen, Helene, Emily, & Hans -- Embroidered, napped an hr. 19
