JANUARY 22 1936. Coldest for at least 1/4 century. Strong wind and -30°. Children piled in coupe and rode to school but came home at noon as no school in P.M. nor P.T.A. in eve. 1937. -4°. So cold children took lunch. Long day alone, firing 3 fires. Baked bread. Cut out & made most of my nightie. [illegible] Hans home about 4:30. 1938. Thawing all day, sunny. With help I did the washing. K baked cookies & apricot upside down cake. A little headache yet. Hilda car to McFarland to have wheels tightened & did shopping for me. 1939.
