JANUARY 30 1936. 10 day washing. Sunny but below zero yet. Frank came home at 11--I put him to work. Finished reading "With Malice toward None" 1937. (Should be 31st) Much colder. Zero. Sunny 47 at S.S. I had 2 girls. Hans home all day Sunday for once. 1938. Icy roads again. To S.S & church. Wrote Dora and Helene. Signe & Hilda given Bibles. Finished reading "Understanding the Adolescent Girl" which Grace lent me. 1939. Thawed a little in P.M. Hans took girls in; I took K & F to Middleton. Both got 1st semester marks all more than 90. Signe A in Chem. & B+ in Ger. I went to Farm & Home week program in Bascom Hall. Wrote Hans & Pauline, card to Grace K. Hans only got as far as Joliet, Ill. 19
