March 3 Up to 59°. A grand wash day. Had to help Elmer Bowman get 11 calves + Sylvia to/Kennedy's to load them to take to farm. Assessor, light collector, etc. Hans at farm overnight. Baked bread. So much water on sidewalk had to walk on paving. At Dr.'s., Frances Bradley parsonage. Got "Gone With the Wind" from Sophia Miller + began reading it. Sore throat worse in spite of doping. Turned down chances to go to Mothers' Club. Made a pan of lard. Slept from 2 to 4. Used ice on throat, which relieved inflammation. 3 cards + letter from Hans. " " Dora. Up + felt fairly well, tho didn't sleep any till 3:00 am! Began reading "The Americanization of Edward W. Bok". Hans came home from the farm, first since January.
