April 2 9 Very bad cold. Did the mending. 19°, tho a little snow thawed. 9 Awoke 2 hrs. again in nite. Went to Dr's twice before he was in. Called on Sadie Callahan, laid up with crushed hand. Robert Woodhouse died from injuries while rescuing dog from paving. 9 While girls washed, Signe and I took Mr. B. Kirkpatrick out to size up Miller place. Then she got her license to learn to drive a car. K baked bread, we did ironing. Got airmail & other letter from Dad & card! 9 Up at 6:15, baked 2 cherry pies, esc. spuds, & meat loaf ring. S.S. & Community, church. Skiff of snow. Brandts' here for dinner. Played Lexington Rummy" Mrs. Reiels & Miss Zilliers called. Hans & I for supper at Brandt's. He milked 3 [illegible] cows & thus we missed play kids were in. 9
