April 8 Cut out jacket for Signe's blue suit. 9 Car dead so we didn't go to 4H leaders' mtg in Dubuque to plan for Rally Day. Hans home in eve. Oskar called to tell their grandmother died in P.M. Re-hung curtains as Eldon has job in Dubuque. 9 Geo. wrote Uncle Will died. Made apple jelly & baked bread & cake, cut out rust print silk dress for Kathryn. All but Signe attended farewell party at school for Backenhogen's. 500. K got 2930. I helped wipe dishes after. Home nearly 1. 9 Hans & I at George Rose's in Amanda's house. We left at 10:45, drove across S.D. making 860 miles since we left home. Called at Schultz' near Arlington. got to August's 6:30 P.M. Colored Easter eggs in alkali water & vinegar. Took Velma, Alvin and Laverne Easter candy, Frank's corduroy suit, marbles, etc. 9
