April 24 19 Took Pauline to Farley, but the dozen 4H leaders & chm all moved back to Epworth. Paulines. Pot luck dinner [illegible]. I had charge of Garden Club at Miller's. 19. The girls, Thelma Carlton & Warton's went in to first Dubuque Youth Conference at U. of Dubuque. Fine addresses by Pres. Dale Welch & Rev C. Vin White and discussion groups & organization of County Council. Downtown an hour & at library. 9 Good rain in night. S.S. Rev. Kennedy of Christ Presbyterian church preached. Signe & I drove to Brandt's. Hilda walked, then went fishing & picked "cowslips" & we all stayed for supper. 9 First summery day, above 80° Put new oil cloth on pantry shelf & behind stove. Wrote Hans, D.R. Murphy & F.W. Beckman. Washed my hair, planted a chrysanthemum put new innerspring mattress on my bed. 9
