May 8 19 At church to see about what was left. Did the mending. Things growing rapidly—garden up—Girls & I to Senior Play "Plain Jane" in eve. Biggest crowd I'd seen at school 19 Hans got telegram from Washington D.C. We did enormous washing. I baked cake. K. washed cars. Signe let down 2 dresses. Hilda catching up on studies. I took Signe to Dyersville then was one of 32 at layette shower for Mrs. Brennemann at Dr. Langford's. 19 Mother's Day. Wore a white narcissus from our own flower beds. Briggs asked me to take 6th grade girls' class, which Mrs. Horswill, then Mrs. Kirkpatrick have had. Rained hard during church. Frank has sore throat. Read, wrote to Mrs. Carlton. & Hans (before breakfast) 19 Baked bread & cake. Hard rain in night & morning. Hans took girls in, then went to Barron Co. I had our Ford worked on in P.M.—till after 6; then got Hilda at Klinke's. To Reiels' to Book Club. Mrs. Leon Kelley reviewed "Storm Signal" by Phyllis Bottome 19
