May 18 9 Baked bread, canned 2 pts. asparagus. Went to Dubuque in P.M. with Hans, & home via Durango, Graf. & Lattner—hills galore. 9 Caller from WLS. Wrote Hans, George, Olga, Miss Clark. Cold, windy, rainy. Can begin doing a few things I want to. Cut out & began flowered smock. Canned 2 pt. asparagus. 19 Drifting fog. Worked on cross stitch "Scottie" towels for Velma. Ground dry enuf that we set some more plants. Began reading "The Lord's Anointed" Rheumatism in my shoulders. Hail in eve. 19 Baked cookies before breakfast. Did up dining room curtains & washed windows, painted back steps, washed 2 rugs. Sent Hans letter. Letters from Mr. Beckman, E. Aitchison, Hans, bid to Josephine Gunlderson Anderson's wedding dance Finished reading Della Lutes' "Millbrook" 19
