May 19 Got & wrote 7, letter from Dora. 1936 Girls helped finish ironing. Went with Hans to Dyersville in P.M. Frank killed his first rabbit with my rifle. 1937. Wrote Helen & Herman. Sunny. Baked bread, mended; able to mop again. At W.H.M.S. at church. 3" division sewed. They asked me to collect money for it. 1938 Another 1/2" rain in night, and a hard one in P.M. Cistern ran over. Girls could not get car started & hitchhiked home from end of streetcar line. I finished Velma's towels & "Lord's Anointed". Wrote Dora. Mr. Wormuth wants to sell me a Jersey cow. Otto Miller gave us gladioli bulbs. 1939. Letters from Velma & Adele & card from Amanda & their mother—probably will not come Sunday. Washed pantry & kitchen woodwork Shortened flowered rayon dress. In eve to campus—Parents' week-end—but an hour late for Sr. Swing-out. Lovely flowers blooming. 19
