June 3 19 Up at 5, baked cookies; left at 9 with Hans for Oelwein where we tested pumps all P.M. Stayed over night in a tiny cabin in so-called tourist camp. At Jesup in eve where Hans helped Hand & Kelly in a cream graders' school. 19 Card from Hans in Washington, letter from Herman, "Tennyson's Poems" from Florence Steen and 4H letter opener for Marie Riley for Hilda. Cut out & seamed blue rayon slip for Signe. She finished her dress & is studying economics. Warton's took me to Farley to see Mrs. Koster who had arranged with Mrs. [Humke?] to postpone [illegible] Rally Day. 19 Hans & Frank & I at Forest Products Bldg. in M. Talked with Mr. Sherrard & Mr. Morbeck—Went with Signe to get her driver's license then Progressive Headquarters. Met Mrs. Grant Haas, Mr. Zeratsky. Baked bread. Set out snapdragons till darkness & rain overtook me. 19 Busy day. No help in A.M. Baked bread, Swedish tea ring, sour cream cookies, & choc. cake. Did the mopping, made Hilda a striped apron, shortened Frank's new suit. All of George Zeigler's here in eve. Signe had last freshman class. Hilda got her diploma. 19
