June 11 19 We tested gas pumps in picnic dinner near Ossian. Attended joint Buttermaker's Mtg. of elections [illegible] & 11 at West Union. Chatted with Sen. C.A. Benson. 19 Very tired. Studied Univ. of Wis. bulletins & sewed. 19 Baked bread & chocolate cake, went to Middleton in A.M. Hans came at noon bringing his mother. Took girls to practise at Trousdale in P.M. went to McFarland. Got her coat & white shoes, & 2 1/2 bu. peat on Highway 18 for rock garden. 19 Signe & 6 other freshman celebrated close of school by a picnic to Devil's Lake. We hitchhiked to S.S. Taught class. Children's Day program. Youth choir. Lovely flowers. Zentner's brought us home. Hans came home in eve bringing his mother, Billy & Donnie. Supper for them at 8. [Dan?] here in P.M. Tennis & alabaster chess. 19
