June 14 1936. Zelma Zentmire & mother of Iowa City at Sis' for breakfast. Hans & I called on Henry [Eichling?] at hospital, & on Vern Donilson's. Riley's at Sis' for dinner, too. Left before 3. Went thru mts. of central Iowa, & Maquoketa. Home 11 1937. Talked 15 min. for Missionary period at Vacation Bible school. Signe & Ella teaching 10 infants. Frank not needed at Kennedy's—he and Jean played—I had charge of prayer at Irmscher Aux at Warton's. $60 check from estate. 1938 Big ironing. Mended. Rain in morning & again in eve. Planted pie pumpkin [illegible] in early sweet corn, & rest of corn bean seed. Transplanted rock garden plants & [illegible]. Double syringa in bloom, also day lily, A.W. spirea, last of iris, delphinium, & peonies. 1939. Flowers earlier than last year except delphinium. Wrote Hilda & Pauline, ordered [2?] Fashion Frock, ironed, cold packed 9 qt. strawberries, made Sure jell jam. Signe & I to Madison in A.M. No job in sight for her. We planted a few carrot seed. 65°. Double syringa lovely. 19
