July 2 1936. Up at 7! Hans came home, dinnerless at 1. Hot & dry. Several long distance calls while he was gone. 1937. Baked layer cake. Mrs. Miller, Eva & Gertrude came in P.M. & the two latter & Lillian came in P.M. to finish quilt. Hans home at 7:30 bringing 26 sunfish Fred Hulo caught, and 12 boxes Min. strawberries. 1938. Ironed, baked bread, picked some peas and berries. Hans back at 1 from a day at Richland Center. Signe got job in Middleton for last part of summer. Hans, Rita & girls went sight seeing. Girls took dip in Lake Mendota. 1939. Went to S.S. & church— adult & youth classes divided finally. Read "Disputed Passage" by Lloyd C. Douglass. Ardis [Skrevas?], Louise Runge here for supper, then Lucille came, & all went to Firemen's fireworks in Middleton—except me. 19
