JULY 23 19 Hotter again - Read "A Native's Return" by Louis Adamic. 19 Shower in sunshine in morning - Wrote Clara Schwarz, Hans and Helene. Bound Kathryn's quilt and made protector for it. [Napped?]. Mrs. Keyes here one hr. 19 Too wet to pick berries early. 5 qts. most of which I made into my first "Raspberry Sunshine", Signe started working at Paul Hilger's in Middleton. I mopped, etc. but girls did cake and cookie baking. 19 Took MacKenzie's raspberries for "farewell gift" 4 in my S.S. class. Frank went home with Dan, who visited here in eve when he brought him back. K and I only ones for dinner here. Read in Franz Werfel's "The 40 days of Musa Dagh". Took Sig to Haley's. 19
