August 14 Hot again. 19 Garden Club in eve at Mrs. Lena Wilkinson's—wall vases. I was called on for report of Swiss Valley! 19 Baked bread, dressed chicken, canned 3 qt. apple butter & 2 of juice, made jelly, dressed a young chicken. Orville's here for half hour in morning. Martin Sefzik threshed rye in P.M. Read in "Integrity: The Life of George Norris. 19 Very tired so stayed home & slept while others went to church. In P.M. we drove to Tower Hill State Park near Spring Green. Hot & windy. I wore coat! Adele & Helene came with Hans. 19 We went to Madison to get Hazle goods etc. for a 4H dress she is to make. Went thru Capitol. After lunch they went home via Monroe & Savana, taking Hans' mother after week here. Finished Frank's pajamas. Hans & I had confab with Mrs. Haas [illegible] Loraine Hotel, then saw Grace K in hospital 19
