August 15 1936. Baked bread & cake, made yeast. To C.T.A. picnic at Fox' farm. Free ice cream. Typed for Gazette. 1937. Baked 2 apple pies. Ella Warton here for dinner. Had first fried chicken, a 3 pounder. Wrote Hans & Florence and Dora. 4 in my S.S. class. Very hot & windy. 1938. 9 for breakfast. Hans & Adele & [illegible] left about 10. I canned 4 qt. corn and 2 qt. sliced pickles. Hilda & Miss A. went thru Capitol. Very heavy rain, nap. Sent letter for Rita's 4H memory book. 1939. Hans and I had our wills made then he left for 3 weeks north. Dollar Day—got myself [Tennis?] blue suit and rose blouse, sweaters, etc. for girls. Tired. Read "Miss Bishop" by Bess Streeter Aldrich 19
