AUGUST 20 19 As my battery went dead, Signe walked to Pauline's to can for her after canning peaches here in forenoon. Hans came home and got her and 1-1/2 bu. blackberries, tomatoes. Hilda also came after week at Buckhorn. 19 Signe canned 16 qts. peaches for me, cleaned and packed trunk full of pictures. Sent Hans 4 letters in 1 day! Letters from May Dyas. A shower. Wrote [May?] and Hans. Packed cedar chest. Had blood clot taken out of hand by Dr. Langford. Frank and I to Jennie M's in eve. 19 Up at 4. After breakfast I left in Melba's [illegible] in Oskar's Chevrolet. I drove 105 mi. then Paul rest of way to Uncle Chris Skott's at Rhinelander. Met Aunt Mary, Martha, Lorraine, Raymond and Berniece, Mabel and Otto [Kankelfitz?] and Phyllis and 6 others for 1st time at cabin. 19 Another wakeful spell then slept till [?:45]! Baked apple crisp, took it and baked beans to Comm. Church picnic on Mendota State hospital grounds. Church services. Streamlined "Chinese checkers. Fine shower coming home. Wrote Miss Clark, Hans. 19
