AUGUST 27 1936. Busy with preparations for leaving, and for final demonstration which Eileen and Signe gave here in eve to 14 people. Little shower. 1937 Busy with preparations for leaving - Signe and I packed last of fruit jars and went over attic stuff. Hilda baked bread and K. cookies. Mr. Evans here from Oskaloosa and stayed for lunch. Told of death of Mr. Caldwell last Jan. 1938. Left Oshkosh. Hans interviewed 3 farmers then we drove home by 2. Elsie there since yesterday morning. Girls had canned 19 qt. beans and tomato juice. Hans, Elsie and I to Middleton. I dressed chicken. Girls went to "White Banners". Sig made pie. 1939. To S.S. chicken dinner at George, then he showed me his new seed house, hybrid corn, etc. Took some pictures. Chas and Frank met a skunk. Tired. 19
