AUGUST 31 1936. Saw Mary, Ethel, Pauline and [Logan?]. Morning 4H assembly at 8. R.K. Bliss talked. Florence, Mary McPherson and I downtown. My first time driving in Des M. Watched Marie R and Agatha demonstrate. Grandstand party in eve. 1937 Up at 5:15 Packed all day. [HOT?] Had fried chicken and apple pie and [illegible] grandma Maxwell sent. Carl and Jennie, Mary and grandma Maxwell here 5-6. Supper at Lyle Miller's. Took K to stay with Rita. Sig, Frank and Hans stayed at Warton's over night. Jennie gave me Xmas cards, Mrs. Warton [illegible] Mrs. Reeder gave us box of toiletries. 1938. We did most of ironing, and canned 4-1/2 qt. corn and 8 qt. tomato juice. Nice cauliflower for dinner - plenty vegetables all the time. Cards from Mary Lydia, Jennie Maxwell. Picnic at Sunset Point. 1939. Baked cookies at Dora's, ironed some. Called on Mrs. J.J. Wallace 2022 Cessna St. Picnic supper and over nite at Riley's. Heard about their western trip. 19
