SEPTEMBER 6 1936. Church and S.S. Took Mr. [illegible] place. Napped after dinner, then Signe and I walked to Pauline's tho it was very hot. Frank came home from work at Buckhorn. 1937. Nice day. Signe washed and baked cookies; I ironed Hans' clothes and mended some for him, helped him get started for a month, in Michigan. Mr. Sperley here most of P.M. Godley's, Grace and Ruth Kirkpatrick here in eve. Made crabapple jelly. 1938. 3 inches rain in 24 hrs, Hilda picked tomatoes and I put up 12 qt. juice, cooked some sw. potatoes from Waechter's. Took nap. Frank and Kathryn in Middleton High. 92° - hot. 1939 We finished ironing, did mending; I canned 1/2 bu. peaches - 11 qt. Velma and Frank walked to school. Hans went to Galena, Ill. for rest of week. 19
