SEPTEMBER 7 19 Huge washing. Wrote to Mr. Kerrigan write up for Dubuque paper and to Miss [Name]. 19 Fine weather, 75°. Canned 2-1/2 qt. apple butter, made apple jelly and bread, which Signe baked while K went to Bond's and Hilda and I went to McFarland and Madison. Finally found electric co's office and signed up. Hilda drove except in downtown Madison. Frank started to school, books furnished. 19 Hilda and I washed - some of it dried. Canned 4 qt. peaches - More rain. Electrolux salesman here twice. Mr. Hammond [illegible] from Mrs Roberts. 19 Wrote Hans, Elsie, Hilda. Pressed Hans' trousers and sent to him. Varnished stairs and upstairs hall floor. Shortened voile dress of Helene's for Velma. [illegible]° and hot wind - record heat for Sept. 19
