or early! SEPTEMBER 22 1936. Ironed, baked bread. Breakfast for Al and Dora and got them off at 6:30. To Dyersville in eve with Hans to free cafeteria feed at Grant Hiway Park. 1937. Kathryn missed school. I went as planned to Emma Hadley's for lunch. Got books from state library. Heat record for 9/22 broken, 89°. 1938. Up to 75°, warmest this month. Made apple jelly and sauce from windfall. Wealthy apples from Briggs' orchard. Sunned yarns, etc. Went to Mother's Club at Pheasant Branch school. Then joined Dane Co. Federation of Rural schools. Crocheted. 1939 Canned 4 qt. grape-applesauce, 2-1/2 grape juice and made grape jam from grapes I got of Schmidt's. Nap. Cut and made most of pink nightie. Took Frank to H.S. party. First furnace fire. 19
