SEPTEMBER 28 1936. Partly sunny. Hans set up heater. I washed, baked bread, mopped, can 2 qt. plums and had exec. comm. mtg. of P.T.A. at school. Wrote (7) letter. 1937. Cloudy, chilly. Canned 3 qt. crabapple spiced, 3 qt. tomato conserve, 1 qt. tomato juice, 1 qt. applebutter, made jelly. Long quiet days here. Read in "A President is Born" by Fannie Hurst. 1938. Sent Hans letter and pkg. of clothes to OWOSSO, Mich. Canned 6 qt each of applesauce from Briggs' Greenings and grape-applesauce, 2 of juice and pt. of jam and 4 glasses jelly. Letter from Dora. 76 qt. canned in Sept. 1939. Ironed, mended, let down and pressed 2 pr. Frank's pants. Shortened my red dress. Baked bread. To Mothers' Club in P.M. 5 tables of 500. Turned down vice-presidency. Wrote Hans in Ohio and 7. 19
