OCTOBER 13 Ironing, mending and stoking two stoves occupied most of day. Letter from Dora. Shortened Hilda's green silk dress for Kathryn. First freeze. Hans to Waukesha for 2 days. Ironed, baked applesauce cake, mended. Finished reading "A President is Born" by Fannie Hurst. Letters from Helen, Hans, Luella and birthday card and hdkf from Flo. Sunny. Mopped 2 linoleums. K waxed the living room linoleum. Cleaned most of sewing room. Some house plants in. Walked to mailbox 3 times! 17 kinds of flowers still blooming. Rev. and Mrs. Barber called. Gave them squashes, pumpkins, carrots, cabbage, parsley. Maybe 10 kinds of flowers - tho not many of each. Ate ripe strawberry. Rainy. Washed my hair. Birthday card and hdkf from Florence. K and I to S.S. board mtg in eve. Wrote Mrs. Barber.
