October 17

Signe got award of book for her book review written at State Fair. She chose "Green Light".

OCTOBER 17

Baked bread and applesauce cookies. Made jelly. Mopped; sat on porch swing to let down hem on Signe's black silk dress. Frank and Hans went to farm in P.M. - first nite this week Hans was away.

We all went to church in Jay's Pontiac. Dist. Supt. Hughes preached. Chat with Grace. Had "Homecoming Pudding" for dinner. Rainy P.M. but we drove out on Deforest road to order a [deer?] made and around Univ. Too warm to wear coat.

Dressed a 6 lb. chicken and roasted it. After early lunch, Hans and I went to 1 W. Main St. then to Ag. library. I went to Home Ec. Club at Mrs. Asher Hobson's. Mrs. Kalb talked on New Zealand and promised to let me write it up. Signe came for me at 5.

Went in with girls, wrote cards to Eva W., Aunt Minnie and Pauline, went to Dr. Q. Broadcast review of "What do you Want for 1.98?"  Came home on 12 o'clock bus. Cut out red print blouse of old dress and white slip. Had some headache and hot flashes.
