OCTOBER 27 Washed in kitchen for first time, and clothes froze first time this fall. Shortened brown knit wool dress for Kathryn. Grand sunny day. Washed 4 storm windows, puttied 2, working outside without coat. [Ironed], canned 2 pt. green tomato mincemeat. [Lost?] some money, after my purse was empty - so went to McFarland for gas, groceries and cash. Grand sunny day - wore no coat. Dry cleaned 10 garments and 7 neckties; baked, read, canned 4 qt. kraut; washed 2 storm windows and put them on, also screwed in their buttons. Got $4. check for my "Good Home Made Cheese" story in Wallaces'. We sent Mrs. Reeder and Miss Aitchison birthday cards. To World's Fair on subway, with 200,000 [illegible] school kids! Spent day around Lagoon of Nations, in exhibits of Brazil, [M?] Z. Russia, Japan, Turkey, Romania, Eng. Saw Magna Charta. Cloudy. "Tobacco Road" in eve. Moved to 329 101st St.
