NOVEMBER 23 1936. Some snow in morning. First furnace fire. Scrubbed floor edges, painted west half of dining room, and at bedtime, the north and west edge of kitchen floor. 1937. Baked raisin bread, ironed, washed windows hung fresh dining room curtains, mended. Washed storm window. J. Petersen put pane in and got last one in place. Letter from Bess Clark in [illegible] instead of Orient as we feared. 1938. Dressed a chicken, cooked a pumpkin, made cranberry relish, did some cleaning, took nap. Started blue crocheted carpet warp rug. 1939. Roosevelt's Thanksgiving. High Schoolers out at noon. I took Univ. girls in to Madison, had car fixed at Sawle's; at Meyer's. Roasted ham, made rolls and bread and pineapple cake. Got Lucille and other girls. Took Sig and Lucille in to Haley's. 19
