DECEMBER 24 Rec'd sub. to New York Times magazine for year from Herman, cake box from Hilda and Frank, pencil and relish dish from Signe, towel from Dora. Lots of cards. Hans went to Davenport; he and K and F at his folks for Xmas eve. Miss Clark sends "American Home" sub. again. Baked and delivered mince pie to Jones' and Waechters', fruit cookies to Carlton's (are all sick). Was announcer at S.S. program. Took treats and pkgs to Carlton's; girls went carolling till 10:45. 19 Hans worked in A.M. I wrote Pauline, baked mince pie in Mother Skott's china pie baker, made jelly, cleaned up after rest of family left for Iowa at 12:30. Went to McFarland and Brandt's. Had my tree alone - pie crimper from Hilda, "Lone Wolf" picture from Signe, daily calendar from K and lamp shade from Frank, shoes from Hans. We finished wrapping packages. I frosted Frank's cake, took it and fruit cake and chili along when we all left at 12:15 a.m. Buckhorn at 4 in snow. Olga's and Velma's came in eve. 16 of us at Grandpa's. Hans gave me camera, Hilda bed lamp, Signe 6 ramskins, 4. pr candles, 7. Scout pin, he and Olga market lists. Olga jelly spoon, Velma apron, Oskar picture, Amanda cross stitch piece, Helen bath powder, Helene box of Cal. fruit. 4 in my S.S. class. Home and had lunch and packed and left for Buckhorn at 1:25. There at 4. 131-1/2 mi. August's there. Took baked beans for supper. Met Maxine Westphal. 27 for Santa Claus' well-laden visit. Sunny, warm and dry. We've sent cards to 13 states, Canada and D. of C.
