December 31 1936. Did the mending, made most of Kathryn's snow pants. Hans home from Oelwein; he and I spent eve at Levi Maxwell's. Edna & I beat the men 2 of 3 games in 500. She just back from her mother's in Ohio. 1937 Baked big batch of bread and rolls. Girls and Frank helped clean up the house. Hans home from Illinois for week-end. Kathryn at Brandt's over night. 1938. We ironed, mended some. Knotted new top on Frank's old 3/4 quilt & buttonholed 2 sides of it. Read in Louis Adamic's "My America" till year was gone. 1939. No one in my S.S. class, so came home for Hilda & some program material K had forgotten. Hans & I called at George Zeigler's in P.M. All of us to Watch Night services at church. Games, charades, etc. Supper. 19
