Thursday, February 20, 1919 THE DAILY IOWAN STATE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA PAGE THREE SOCIETY AND PERSONAL President and Mrs. W. A. Jessup will give a reception to freshmen at their home on Church street Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock. President and Mrs. Jessup extend an invitation to all first year students as well as freshmen. No formal invitations will be issued. Phi Kappa pledges entertained the active members at a banquet at Hotel Jefferson Tuesday evening. Theta Sigma Phi met Tuesday evening at the home of Beth and Rowena Wellman. Nu Sigma Nu will entertain at a dancing party at the Burkley Friday evening. Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Steindler and Dr. and Mrs. Harold Van Meter will be the chaperones. Delta Tau Delta will entertain at a dancing party at the chapter house Friday evening. Dr. and Mrs. E. Thoen will chaperon. Members of the Triangle club will entertain at their annual masquerade party at the club rooms this evening. Sigma Chi will entertain at a dinner dance at the chapter house Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Thayer and Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Treynor will be the chaperones. Hep-Zet will entertain their members at a joint program and dance at the women's gymnasium Friday evening. Prof. and Mrs. F. C. Ensign will chaperon. Apollo club will entertain at a dancing party at the Burkley Saturday evening. Prof. and Mrs. H. F. Wickham will chaperon. A children's party will be given by the freshman girl's class of the Congregational Sunday school for all the young people Saturday night at the conference house. Students are asked to come dressed as children and renew their youth. All Lutheran students are asked to come to the Zion Lutheran church parlors for a good time tomorrow night at 7:30. Fun and eats are promised. The church is at the corner of Johnson and Bloomington streets. The next economics seminar will be Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the home of Prof. C. R. Cowin on the west side. Prof. R. A. Stevenson will read a paper on "Some Limitations in Theory of Cost Accounting." Ruth Rogers is visiting at Muscatine today. Lieut. Herbert Bornholdt, Sigma Chi, is visiting his sister Edna, who is a student in the University. Lieut. Bornholdt was recently discharged at Arcadia, Cal. Lieut. and Mrs. Howard Dancer are visiting friends here. Mrs. Dancer who was formerly Elizabeth Neasham, is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Lieutenant Dancer is a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Helen Bergman of Newton and Esther Petty of Sioux City will spend the week end at the Gamma Phi Beta house. Prof. Paul S. Peirce will talk on "Social Sciences" at the freshman lecture today. Prof. W. E. Hays, assisted by the freshman orchestra, will conduct the singing. Miss Zada Cooper assistant professor of pharmacy, Dean W. J. Teeters and Prof. R. A. Kuever are in Des Moines attending the convention of the Iowa Pharmaceutical association.
