Page Four THE DAILY IOWAN, STATE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA Tuesday, March 18, 1919 Natural Science Auditorium TWO--ONE ACT PLAYS "The Finger of God" "The Violin Maker of Cermona" Presented by the Educational Dramatics class Wednesday, 7:30 P.M. Admission Free ___________________________ HAWKEYES TO BE OUT MAY 1 _________ All copy Completed This Week - Proofs Coming in Hawkeyes will be out early in May. In spite of the fact that work on the book was started weeks later than usual, and that the editor and business manager when appointed the first of December had to make plans and attend to details that would ordinarily have been cared for during the first two months of the school year, the last of the copy will leave the University office before spring vacation, and books will be out approximately the same time as usual. At intervals during the past month the staff have had thrills of delight when huge brown envelopes arrived from Minneapolis, and they could see proofs of the snapshots coaxed from reluctant modest students, and discuss the fine points in the group pictures. All photographs and art work are sent to the Bureau of Engraving in Minneapolis where cuts and engravings are made and forwarded to the printers in Oshkosh, Wis. The greater part of the art work for the Hawkeye has been done by students in the art department. George O'Brien, of Iowa City, has given valuable assistance in making special plates and designs. The feature section will follow out the magazine idea this year - real stories, impressionistic poetry, snappy cartoons, and the sugar coated slam. The official sleuth of the staff has been wearily watching, and has the "dope" on everyone. _________ EXCUSE US PLEASE In a late edition of The Iowan the decorations for the Freshman party were accredited to the art department. The work was entirely in the hands of five persons, experienced in decorating. They were Arthur Rosenbaugh, Irene Anderson, Jean Dayton West, Alice Littig, and Doris Davitt, all of whom are members of the art department. _________ GLEE CLUB PLANS UPSET Plans of the Men's Glee club for the annual concert have been delayed because Lenihan Lally soloist, and baritone in the quartette, was called to his home in Denison last week, and may not return to the University. No definite date for the concert has been set but it will probably be held early in April. ___________________________ Don't Send Your Laundry Home...
