PAGE FOUR THE DAILY IOWAN, STATE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA BEYER-HANE CELLIST HAS WIDE EXPERIENCE Played in Chicago Opera Company but Prefers Symphonic Work to Operatic Born in France, brought up in Switzerland, and musically educated at the Leipzig conservatory, that is the story of Herman Beyer-Hane first cellist of the Minneapolis Symphony orchestra which will give two concerts in the armory may 24. Mr. Beyer-Hane will play the Andante from Dvorak’s Concerto for violin-cello in the afternoon concert. For six years Mr. Beyer-Hane played under the exacting baton of Cleofonte Campanini as first cellist of the Chicago Opera company’s famous orchestra. He is widely known as a soloist and orchestral musician of remarkable ability. Despite his operatic experience, which he feels was interesting and broadening, Mr. Beyer-Hane prefers symphonic work, believing himself to be suited to it both by temperament and training. [picture] Beyer-Hane, Cellist with Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra STAFF AND CIRCLE ELECTS Margaret Hayes is President of Honorary Senior Organization The twelve junior girls elected Tuesday from the twenty-two nominated at the annual junior breakfast last week, are as follows: Margaret Hayes, president, because she received the highest number of votes, Mary Anderson, Kathryn Dayton, Marjorie Boyd, Bess Goodykoontz, Grace Altshuler, Helene Blattner, Elizabeth Dorcas, Helen Macintosh, Mabel Turner, Florence Strub and Eula Van Meter. Several names were struck from the original list to be voted on because of an ineligibility for various reasons, an over amount of credit, delinquency, or intention of leaving school before the end of next year. The duties of Staff and Circle include helping freshmen to register and get located at the opening of school in the autumn and giving assistance to students throughout the year. In general, Staff and Circle acts as advisory body to the dean of women. Let The Iowan be your letter.
