July 5th. 1864 Tuesday - I have not written home for several days, and none in my journal since the day before yesterday - Sabbath morning our chaplain preached us a good sermon - It seemed very much like home and the songs how I do love to hear them - Yesterday was the glorious fourth - and in the morning Capt Crowder was sent out with a foraging party - a little after noon he came back with one cow some sheep chickens and a variety of vegitables - So.we had a good.supper and as
