Monday July 25th. Had mush for supper. For dinner beef soup - beef - & Hard tack for Breakfast Beef - Hardtack and rice - Yesterday our co was on duty not being very well I remained in quarters until evening when I went out onto the Holly Spring road and stayed at the outpost. Just at day light this morning a negro came to the line who had been in the cecesh army but wanted to go to Memphis and receive his freedom we sent him on - A foraging party went out to a mill today and looted the grain
