Today two ladies have been in to see the Colonel fine looking but they all "dip" - Last night the Col received information that a guerilla band. would cross the river below here sometime during the night he sent out a detachment of men who returned with three horses and four saddles the horse belonging to the other saddle was left in the river. Could not find out whether they killed any one or not. Received a letter from Burlington yesterday - Last eve one of the Lieuts (McCracken) folllowed a rebel from camp and fired at him twice do not know whether he hurt him
