The Dallas County News and the Dallas County Record By The News Publishing Company SCOTT SNYDER. Editor-Manager ADEL, IOWA Adel, Iowa, March 16 1940 Nile C. Kinnick Iowa City Dear "Jun": Earle Battershell just handed me that Heisman Memorial Trophy award program, and this note is to thank you a lot for remembering that I would prize it. Which I do, most highly. Any of your friends would feel the same. Into the collection of things I hold dear it goes . Now that your football days are over, please accept my congratulations, not only for the way you played the game this year but in other years as well. Naturally I've followed you since the days you kids had the vicious neighborhood battles, through high school and university and I've never been disappointed. You've done everything you started out to do and we're all proud. I'm a hellofa fellow to be preaching or moralizing, but may I also tell you that I'm as proud of your private life and the high standards you have apparently set for hourself. In the language I heard for so many years--"nice going" and "keep swinging." Thanks again, and with kindest personal regards Sincerely Scott Snyder P.S. And listen: If you have another print of a football player named Nile Kinnick in action, it would look right well in my collection.
