27 An excitement on the picket line last night. 28th Our usual drills, it being severe enough. 29 An exciting time in front. Gen. Kilpatrick took command of our cavalry and made a dash on the enemy's pickets to see what they were made of. Several were wounded on our side, but nothing accomplished as the ground was all left to the enemy.
