several of our men and at 8 A.M. moved out 1 1/2 miles to the rear of the 2nd Brigade which was on the front line. No fighting during the day, our men being busy throwing up works and getting their artillery in position they having an excellent range on the enemy's fort and breastworks and only 800 yds distant. We lay still all day and rec'd a large meal. At 11 P.M. we [In Margin] (Artillery firing by volley.)
