Our boys keep up a hot fire on the fort and keep their artillery down. Our Regts skirmishers go out, A good many wounded A heavy rain all forenoon, this is slow work. Throw up works in the woods for protection, Enemy shells us their muskets reach us. One of Co F killed. Co I Ohio 1st Art near us 19" Evening evacuate during the night and at 7 we move out too. * Pass through their works where we saw the effects of our fire and take a position upon a hill facing the left hill in our front. Lose two men by the fire of the enemys sharp shooters. Severe rain At 2 our skirmishers go out and the Regt moves out for support. Are now half a mile from the hill and the face almost perpendicular, Name Kinnessaw. At night it came Co H's turn and we troll the line remaining until 3 A.M. 20 Co G could not be relieved on account of the enemy's fire. They have one man wounded and come away at dark to-day Regt moves up to the 4' corps and camps by divisions. Shell and bullets come through camp. Heavy rain and heavy fight on the night, First division moves to the right. Co K's exploits in the skirmish line.
