June the 18, 1863 My dear father and mother sister i sat don to take my pen in hand to lat you that i am well and i hope that these fue lins will find you the same i hant had a latter for god whale i rote 3 ore 4 latters and ant got now anscer from you i dont se whey i dont git now ancer i hope i git a latter sun we are close to the rabels we are camp in a holer under our rifle pits the rabels dont shut warre much but our boys are shuting at them all the time the rabels darsent to stick thar hads out of
