February guard discovered our men on the look out & turned to go back we fired at them killed one horse wounded & killed some of their men they went back & left us as fast as good horses could carry them, we stayed there untill night a division of cavalry went out to engage the rebs, at night we were relieved & came to camp 21st we were called
