WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 1864. Mrs. Wittenmyer came today. Read "Sojourner Truth", and "Paul [Black sr.?] and several other articles I have been wanting for some time. THURSDAY 14 A very busy day Spent mostly in office duties. Stayed with Mrs. W-- at the Hotel and wrote until very late. FRIDAY 15 A day of more joy and sorrow than I have known for months. Had a sacred hour at the Library.
